1. Protect your hands

The first step when washing up? Pop on your trusty pair of Marigold Extra-Life Kitchen Gloves, of course! Triple-dipped, these gloves are highly durable and are fitted with roll-top cuffs to help them stay up, so your hands are fully protected.

2. Stack Your Dishes

Whether you're watching the end of a film, or your little ones need attention, we all have points in the day where we need to stack the dishes and leave them for later. To make the washing up easier when you do finally get around to it, make sure to stack your dishes on the side, leaving your sink clean and open for when you’re ready to wash up (be sure to leave space on the drying rack, which will come in handy later!.

3. Fill Your Sink

Did you know, using a plastic bowl inside your sink to do the washing up not only uses less water, but helps to keep your sink cleaner? Fill your bowl up with hot water, leaving a few inches to spare at the top. Add a few squirts of your favourite washing up liquid whilst it’s filling up to create a soapy haven for your dishes.
If you don’t have a plastic bowl to hand, simply fill up your sink as normal and use a Marigold Squeaky Clean Microfibre Cloth to give your sink a wipe down afterwards - who doesn’t love that squeaky clean shine?

4. Stack in Order

4. Stack in Order

After you’ve finished your evening meal, the washing up is probably the last thing you want to do. But we’ve got a tip to make it easier - washing your pots in order! We know it sounds silly, but it really helps.
Once you’ve scraped away any excess food from your plates, pots and pans, pile your washing up in the order you are going to wash them, to help make the process more efficient. We’d recommend starting with the “cleaner” items first to help the water last longer.
Glasses should be washed first to avoid any greasy smear marks on them. Cutlery should then be second, followed by plates and bowls. Keep your pots and pans for last, as they tend to have stubborn or hard to remove dirt on them.
Marigold Clean & Gleam Double Sided Scourer is the perfect washing up scourer to wipe away any dirt and grime on your plates or surfaces. With anti-bac technology* built into the cloth side, this scourer will stay fresh for longer during everyday tasks, such as the washing up and wiping down grimy kitchen surfaces.

As tempting as it can be to start scrubbing away at burnt-on food right away, it’s better for your pots and pans to let them soak in a sink of warm water and washing-up liquid first. This can be done whilst you’re cleaning your glasses and plates, helping to loosen any food particles, and saves your hands from scrubbing-induced fatigue!

6. Scrub Away the Dirt

Now it’s time to tackle your pots and pans. We’d recommend using Marigold Cleaning Me Softly Non Scratch Scourers for this job. The abrasive, non-scratch scourer surface is a great way to tackle any burnt-on food left on your pots and pans after a soak. Teflon™ approved,** this scourer will help break up and lift away any tough dirt, without scratching delicate surfaces.*** Simply use the abrasive side to scrub away the dirt, then switch to the foam backed side to rinse with hot water for sparkling pots and pans!

If you have a particularly stubborn stain that doesn’t seem to be budging, you need “the heavies” - Marigold heavy duty scourers of course!
Our stainless steel duo, the Marigold Scrunchie Heavy Duty Scourer and the Marigold Scrub Away Heavy Duty Scourer, are the perfect grime-fighting pair for jobs that require a little extra elbow grease.
Made from 100% stainless steel, the Marigold Scrunchie Heavy Duty Scourer is perfect for deep-cleaning the most well-used areas of your kitchen, like grills and pans that see daily wear and tear. The metalic Marigold Scrub Away Heavy Duty Scourer pad is flat and flexible, making it much easier to get in those hard-to-reach places that often harbour the most stubborn, burnt-on food (like in between the rungs of the grill.)

For pots and pans that need a more thorough soaking, add a dash of baking soda with hot water, leave for a few minutes, then empty and scrub with your scourer. And voilà! As good as new (well, almost!)
