Eight Areas of your Kitchen to give some Extra TLC

Eight Areas of your Kitchen to give some Extra TLC

The past year has seen many of us re-ignite our passion for home cooking and expand our culinary repertoires, so it’s no wonder our kitchens seem to need more TLC than ever before! While we may be spending more time in our kitchens, there’s no need to spend that time worrying about cleaning. Luckily for you, we have eight simple deep cleaning tips to keep the heart of the home in tip-top shape!

CLEAN YOUR CUPBOARD FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

Our kitchen cupboards tend to collect a lot more dirt and food than we realise, so when you’re tackling the kitchen, be sure to start with your cabinets. Get to work with a Marigold Squeaky Clean Microfibre Cloth, which will lift away grease and grime and leave your surfaces streak-free.

How often should you do this?

We’d recommend deep cleaning your cupboards every few months and incorporating a quick wipe down into your weekly routine.

DON'T GIVE YOUR FRIDGE THE COLD SHOULDER.

No kitchen clean is complete without giving your fridge some attention. Be sure to empty all of the contents out of your fridge before you start, then remove the drawers, detach the shelves and give them a good rinse with warm water. Then grab a Marigold Wash And Wipe Dish Cloth to give the inside of your fridge a good clean, making sure you wipe down any condensation puddles at the bottom with Marigold’s extra absorbent Marigold Oops Away All Purpose Cloths.

Your fridge is one of the most important appliances in your home so ideally, you’ll be giving it some extra love every 3 to 4 months.

HANDLES, HANDLES, HANDLES.

Think about how many times you touch your cupboard and drawer handles every day, this is why they should be an essential part of your kitchen cleaning routine. Our Marigold Let It Shine! Microfibre Cloths are the perfect contender for this task. They can be used wet or dry and remove over 99% of bacteria with just water*. There’s no need for chemicals, which means you can just grab them and go! Not only will these cloths help keep your home hygienically clean, but they will leave any shiny surfaces sparkling too.

This is a quick task so try doing it every couple of days to keep the dirt at bay.

STOP YOUR WINDOWS BEING A PANE.

With the amount of steam created when you’re cooking, it’s no surprise that the windows can end up bearing the brunt of all this activity. With grease build up and cloudy condensation, your kitchen windows can need cleaning more often than your other windows. The Marigold Crystal Clear Window Cloth is the one to grab when you’re looking for sparkling results. The power of microfibre quickly removes grime and grease with just water, while the super absorbent rubber-effect coating locks in liquid so no smears or water marks are left behind.

How often should you do this?

While it differs depending on how often you air out your home, we’d recommend tackling the windows once a month at least to keep them gleaming. Avoid washing windows in direct sunlight, as this can make them dry too quickly, leaving soapy smears.

HELP YOUR KITCHEN SHINE LIKE A DIAMOND.

Nothing is more satisfying than a freshly cleaned kitchen tap and drainer. Kitchen fittings are often chrome, and they tend to showcase fingerprints, watermarks and grease stains. Simply wipe them down with a damp Marigold Squeaky Clean Microfibre Cloth to leave a streak-free shine.

We’d recommend cleaning these surfaces every time you do the pots to avoid any mildew build up.

DON'T SKIRT AROUND THE PROBLEM.

Out of sight tasks can often go overlooked, so we tend to forget that our skirting boards need attention too. While skirting boards are notorious for collecting dust, they also tend to have food build up that’s been swept aside or missed with the mop. Keep on top of this task by giving your skirting and under cupboard space a quick dust, and then wipe down with the Marigold Wiper Upper Multi-Purpose Cloth, which has a special antibacterial formulation**.

We’d recommend getting your skirting boards done once a month to keep on top of any dust and food build up.

TAKE CARE OF THE TILES.

It’s fair to say we often concentrate more on surfaces and floors when cleaning our kitchens, but don’t forget the tiles need a good clean to keep the kitchen fresh and glistening. This is where the Marigold Squeaky Clean Microfibre Cloth has its spotlight moment. This next generation microfibre cloth allows you to not only say goodbye to stains but also gives a streak-free finish so your tiles will be literally squeaky clean!

To prevent the build-up of grease and dirt, we recommend tackling your tiles once a month at least.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST - YOUR OVEN.

A recent survey by Ideal Home revealed that the UK’s most hated chore is cleaning the oven - but trust us, by using Marigold’s Cleaning Me Softly Non Scratch Scourer it’ll become one of your favourites. The Marigold Cleaning Me Softly Non Scratch Scourer breaks up and lifts away any tough dirt or grime, without scratching delicate surfaces (making it perfect for pots and pans too - Teflon approved!). A top tip to make the process easier would be to dissolve 250g of soda crystals in a sink full of hot water, pop in your oven racks and leave to soak for one hour. With your trusty Marigold Extra-Life Kitchen Gloves and scourer, scrub away baked-on food, rinse, and allow to dry.

For any stubborn dirt on your oven door, tackle by rubbing a paste of bicarbonate of soda and water onto the glass. Leave for 15-20 minutes then wipe off with a damp, microfibre cloth. Marigold’s Let It Shine! Microfibre Cloths would be perfect for this.

How often should you clean your oven?

We’d recommend deep cleaning your oven once a month to keep the interior squeak clean, and ensure no parts get too clogged up or crusted over with dirt.
